To Go or Not to Go? The Effects of Satisfaction and Commitment on the Intention to Internationalize.

2,012 Rio de Janeiro, 2012 BALAS Proceedings: 2012.   RAMSEY, Jase Ryan  (Et al). Article   RAMSEY, Jase Ryan  (Et al). We provide evidence that firms which were more committed to internationalization systematically differ from firms that were less committed to internationalization in their future intention to engage in foreign direct investment (FDI). We analyzed data from 42 large Brazilian Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) one year after the global financial crises of 2008 began. Results support previous research on the degree of satisfaction with prior internationalization efforts and future intent to internationalize, such that the relationship between the two is positive. Yet contrary to existing literature, the degree to which a firm was committed to internationalization has a negative influence on the positive relationship between satisfaction and intent. We discuss the implications of these findings for the literature on emerging market MNEs and internationalization strategies. Inglês 005(8=6) B979t 2012
