Bourdieu's Sociology: Potentialities and Applications in Research im Business Administration.

2,012  Consejo Latinoamericano de Escuela de Administracion, 2012.   SANT'ANNA, Anderson de Souza;  SOUZA, Iago Vinicius Avelar. Article Sant'Anna, Anderson de Souza SANT'ANNA, Anderson de Souza;  SOUZA, Iago Vinicius Avelar. This article aims to present the results of a bibliometric survey based on the the largest and most influential Brazilian academic conferences in Business Administration and Organizational Studies - EnANPAD and EnEO - to identify how Bourdieu's theoretical approach has been applied to studies in the field in Brazil. We also sought to describe in detail one of the latest studies identified in the articles we reviewed in order to illustrate the application of this framework and its potential application to real-world situations. The results obtained show that Bordieu’s perspective is not yet widely applied to the field in Brazil. Out of the universe of articles published in the proceedings of the conferences mentioned above, 32 used the French sociologist’s perspective in their theoretical approach, as follows: 23 in the EnANPAD proceedings and nine in the EnEO proceedings. Irregular distribution through time and dispersion as regards authorship and the institutions involved suggests an absence not only of tradition but also of more established research streams involving Bourdieu’s theoretical approach in the field in Brazil. On the other hand, a recent article involving a description of Bourdieu’s theoretical framework illustrates its vitality, timeliness and richness as regards its application, especially when used to analyze emerging themes and to incorporate new analytical views and perspectives, mainly in studies of a more exploratory nature (exploitation research).
