Summary:
This paper investigates the relations between this sectoral environment and the innovative strategies carried out by the companies. In this sense, the current article tries to empirically analyze network of companies from the perspective of the context (sectoral organization) it is embedded in. The focus is on the study of the routines (NELSON and WINTER, 1982) created within the network, and on the interaction of these tools with the Sectoral System of Innovation (BRESCHI and MALERBA, 1997).
The authors show that such a context not only reduces the costs associated to the knowledge transfer processes between the companies, but also contributes to the setting of explicit standards for the coordination of the productive activities of the companies, thus facilitating knowledge transfer between the companies in the network.
