Subramanian Rangan

Subi Rangan is a Professor of Strategy and Management at INSEAD, where he holds the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court Chair in Social Progress. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy from Harvard University and an MBA in Business from the MIT Sloan School of Management. His current research explores how companies can integrate performance and progress, and how academics can help develop this paradigm and the practice of capitalism. In 2013, he founded the Society for Progress, a group of philosophers, social scientists, and leaders (www.societyforprogress.org), which aims to contribute to and catalyze rigorous research on the topic. His first published work was Performance & Progress: Essays on Capitalism, Business, and Society (Oxford University Press, 2015). His second book is titled Capitalism Beyond Mutuality? (Oxford, 2018). His research has been published in leading academic management journals, and he has conducted research on multinationals operating in Brazil. In 1998, he won the Eldridge Haynes Award from the Academy of International Business for the best original work in international business. In 1995, that academy awarded him the Best Dissertation Award for his doctoral thesis. In 2010, his research won the Emerald Award for the 50 best articles in management. Prof. Subi Rangan is a board member of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. He was an associate editor of the Academy of Management Review and chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals. He directs INSEAD's executive seminar, AVIRA: Awareness, Vision, Imagination, Role, and Action. In 2018, he launched the executive seminar Integrating Performance & Progress (IPP), which he conducts together with philosophers.
