Paulo Vicente

Paulo Alves holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Administration, both from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). He also holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering (IME).He is currently a Full-time Professor at Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC).

From 2007 to 2009, he served as Deputy Secretary of Planning at the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat for Planning and Management (SEPLAG-RJ).

His professional experience spans the government, defense, aerospace, education, and energy sectors. He also served as a Captain in the Brazilian Army from 1990 to 2002.

As a professor, he has taught at several leading institutions in Brazil, including ESPM, Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), IBMEC, IME, and PUC. He has also delivered lectures and presentations at institutions such as Brown University, CKGSB, HULT International Business School, INSEAD, the Indian School of Business (ISB), Johns Hopkins University, Kellogg School of Management, the University of St. Gallen, Schulich School of Business, Skolkovo School of Management, the University of Texas at Dallas, and Vlerick Business School through programs developed in partnership with FDC.

In 2012, he participated in the Global Colloquium on Participant-Centered Learning (GloColl) at Harvard Business School.

As a consultant, he has worked with organizations including British American Tobacco (BAT), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Petrobras, Shell, and the United States Department of Commerce.

He was a member of the Strategic Planning Society (SPS-UK) and is a founding member of the Strategic Management Forum.

Professor Alves is the author of the e-book Emerging Markets Report and the books Business Games (Jogos de Empresas), Business Games and Simulations (Jogos e Simulações de Empresas), and Contemporary Public Management (Gestão Pública Contemporânea).

His contributions have been recognized through several distinctions, including the Publicis Best Marketing Strategy Award at the 2004 L’Oréal Marketing Awards, as a faculty advisor, and a ranking of 29th place in the Best Business Professor Award promoted by The Economist Intelligence Unit in 2012–2013.
