Maurício Antônio Lopes

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy from Universidade Federal de Viçosa, a Master's in Genetics from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona. He has worked as a researcher for the Empresa de Pesquisa Agropecuária de Minas Gerais (Epamig) and the Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa). At Embrapa, he also served as head of the Research and Development Department, executive director of Research and Development, and since October 2012 has held the position of president. He also worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Rome, promoting the sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. He served as a member of the Scientific Council of the Agropolis Fondation, in Montpellier, France. He was also coordinator and researcher of Labex Korea, Embrapa's international cooperation program in Asia.
