Lívia Barakat

Livia Barakat is a Professor and Researcher at the Strategy and International Business Center of Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC). She teaches courses in International Strategy, Intercultural Management, and Positive Impact, and coordinates the FDC Internationalization Paths of Brazilian Companies study.Professor Barakat holds a Ph.D. in International Business and Knowledge Management from Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), as well as a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). She has previous experience as an International Projects Manager at FDC, leading initiatives such as the partnership with SKEMA Business School, the FDC International Advisory Board, and the AL-LAs Project for the Internationalization of Cities funded by the European Union.She previously taught at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas) and is the author of several articles published in international journals, including Latin American Business Review, Journal of World Business, and International Journal of Emerging Markets.Her research lines include:

  1. Humility and Globally Responsible Leadership
    Objective: To deepen the understanding of behaviors and competencies related to global mindset, cultural intelligence, and humility in leadership, and their contribution to global strategic vision and the ethical, inclusive, and sustainable management of complex societal challenges.

  2. Internationalization of Companies
    Objective: To assess the internationalization strategies of companies from different countries and industries, examining the main challenges, opportunities, and outcomes of their global operations. The research seeks to map international maturity levels, identify best practices and key success factors, and propose actions to enhance competitiveness and positive impact throughout the internationalization process.

  3. Knowledge Management
    Objective: To identify organizational factors that foster knowledge exchange, idea generation, knowledge dissemination, and innovation, particularly within multinational companies and organizations undergoing internationalization processes.

  4. Sustainability and ESG in Internationalization
