Full-time Professor

Helena Shigaki

She is a Professor, Researcher, and Coordinator of the Undergraduate Business Administration Program at Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC). She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, 2020), where her dissertation received the CEPEAD/UFMG Best Dissertation Award, and completed a doctoral exchange period at HEC Montréal and Tech3Lab, Canada. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from PUC Minas (2014), a Specialization in Data Science and Analytics from the University of São Paulo (USP, 2022), a Specialization in Strategic Marketing Management from PUC Minas (2012), and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from PUC Minas (2010).

She served as a professor in the international Master’s program at SKEMA Business School, teaching in English (2023), and as a Professor and Researcher in the Master’s Program in Business Administration at Unihorizontes (2020-2023), where she supervised 16 master’s dissertations. She was also part of the team responsible for developing FDC’s first undergraduate degree program.

Since 2016, she has been a member of the Contemporary Marketing Management Project at FDC and, since 2023, Co-Leader of the Research, Teaching, and Marketing and Operations Strategy Center at UFMG. Since 2020, she has served as a thematic leader within ANPAD and currently leads the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Marketing” within the Marketing Division for the 2025-2027 term.

She is an Associate Editor of the Mackenzie Management Review (RAM) and has previously served as Guest Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Marketing (ReMark) and Editor-in-Chief of the Horizontes Interdisciplinares da Gestão journal. In extension and outreach initiatives, she co-founded and coordinated the NeuroFaces Group at UFMG (2016-2018) and founded and coordinated the QuarenTese project (2020-2021).

She currently serves as a volunteer mentor in Marketing and Entrepreneurship for Expo Favela, promoted by Favela Holding. She also coordinated the University Experience in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (VUEI) project, funded by the Minas Gerais State Secretariat for Economic Development (SEDE-MG) in 2023.

Her research and teaching interests include Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Marketing, Contemporary Marketing Management, Social Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Consumer Neuroscience, Consumer Behavior, Customer Centricity, Market Research, Transformative Consumer Research, and Academic Productivity.

Research Line: Emerging Technologies, Marketing, and Transformations in Consumer Behavior

The overall objective of this research line is to understand the impacts of emerging technologies on marketing practices and consumer behavior, proposing conceptual frameworks and practical guidelines that connect science, innovation, and social relevance.
