Alice Erthal

Full-time Professor at Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC) in the area of Leadership and Organizational Behavior and Coordinator of FDC’s Master's, Doctoral, and Postdoctoral Programs.

She holds a Ph.D. and a Postdoctoral degree in Business Administration from COPPEAD/UFRJ, including a doctoral fellowship period at Florida International University (FIU), United States, supported by CAPES. She has professional experience as both a manager and consultant across public, private, and third-sector organizations. Her work has been published in leading international journals (ABS 4*) and presented at major national and international conferences in the field of management. Her research contributes to a deeper understanding of the interaction between individuals, organizations, and their ecosystems, particularly the role of leadership in promoting more ethical and sustainable practices.

Her primary research agenda focuses on the contemporary challenge of promoting decent and meaningful work, considering individual, organizational, and societal dimensions. Her projects examine how leaders, employees, and organizations navigate ethical dilemmas, paradoxes, and pressures for greater sustainability and transparency, as well as the impacts of these dynamics on work experiences, human development, and organizational performance.

The main theoretical lenses guiding her research include Responsible Leadership, Ethics and Ethical Blindness, Meaningful Work, Paradox Theory, Job Crafting, Organizational Culture, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Labour Supply Chains, Modern Slavery, and Decoupling.
