Resumo: Three topics of investigation are analyzed along the article: third-party logistics as a possible barrier for collaborative practices in Brazil, analysis on third-party logistics levels of implementation in each operational area investigated and the process of adopting thirdparty logistics practices regarding to the type of controlling capital (Foreign or National). These aspects are considerably important on promoting understanding of how supply chains in Emerging Markets like Brazil are created, evolved and maintained. At the end, a discussion takes place on the main results mostly directed to the new ways to
