However, despite the importance of these cooperation strategies in the current technical-scientific paradigm, there is a dearth of studies on the topic of network knowledge generation and transfer. In this context, the current paper aims to discuss and present a methodology to operationalize and analyze the concept of routines within networks. The case of the Genolyptus network is examined in particular. We first discuss
the use of the concept of routines as a core analysis variable by showing how difficult it is to operationalize the term due to the broadness and pervasiveness of concepts to be found in the literature. We then propose a methodology to carry out an empirical verification of the concept, introduce the network being studied and discuss the characteristics and roles of the observed routines. It is believed that the effort to evaluate the concept of routines empirically can offer a meaningful contribution for an understanding of the management processes adopted by networks and companies,
thereby allowing organizations to take a skeptical and deep look at the way flows and processes are developed within those structures.
