Fabian Salum is a professor and leading researcher of competitive strategies, emphasizing Business Models and Innovation Management at FDC. Considered one of the most influential Professors and Researchers in second place in the ranking of the World Scientist and University Ranking of the year 2023. Fabian holds a PhD in Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – Brazil, in the sandwich modality at INSEAD – France. He has a Masters in Business Administration from Fundação Pedro Leopoldo (Brazil) and Mechanical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais – Brazil. As an executive, he held technical and management positions, reaching C-level positions in companies such as Telemig, Toshiba, Unilever, Lear Corporation, Fiat, and Votorantim. He was entrepreneurial in creating a start-up in the e-commerce and heavy machinery retail sector. He was a partner owner of a bovine leather treatment industry. His professional experience accumulates in Telecommunications, Education, Automotive, Consumer Goods, Mining, Engineering and Energy. As a professor, he has worked at FGV and IBMEC in Brazil and has taught for Kellogg, CKGSB, and INSEAD in joint programs offered by FDC. Professor Salum teaches postgraduate courses, Executive MBA, open programs, and customized programs for large companies, in addition to working in corporate partnership programs for family businesses in Brazil and Latin America. He was a columnist for EXAME Magazine in Brazil and is the author of some articles, books, and chapters published by Cengage Learning, Alta Books, and Palgrave MacMillan. At FDC, Salum was Director of the Sustainable Growth Partnership (PCS), Coordinator of the Innovation Reference Center (CRI Minas), Coordinator of the Strategy Reference Center and Technical Coordinator of the Partners for Excellence Program (PAEX) and, more recently after his stay for 1 year at INSEAD, he creates the Practical Business Model Community (www.practicalbusinessmodel.com) in partnership with other professors from educational institutions in Brazil, Latin America and Europe. He is an independent advisor to medium and large companies and is a member of the Innovation and Strategic Management committees.
