The Shareholder and Business Family Development Partnership (PDA) aims to contribute to the development of family businesses. It provides members an environment conducive to the discussion and construction of a mature and professional future to ensure business continuity, asset preservation and harmonious family relationships. PDA has had around 3000 participants for over 15 years, assisting more than 600 family businesses in several states of the five Brazilian regions.
Family business members (founders, spouses, heirs and second, third and fourth generation successors), whether they work in the company or not.
PDA uses a methodology based on interviews with family members, conceptual contributions and exchange of experiences. It also focuses on the practical application of acquired knowledge, through specific stages. - At the beginning of the program, participants respond to a questionnaire addressing family, equity and management issues. They also take part in a collective interview with the whole family. The analyzed data provide a business diagnosis, serving as the basis for the development of a strategic family plan. - Based on their strategic plan, each family develops their own action plan according to their specific needs. Throughout the Program, participants receive practical advice on how to apply the knowledge from FDC experts who help them solve specific business issues, such as shareholder agreements, family cohesion, corporate governance design and implementation, equity planning, among others. - Conceptual teaching is delivered in up to 14 monthly, face-to-face, two-day modules. They address topics of general interest to family businesses, such as trust relationships, family myths and values, corporate governance, boards of directors and family councils, family office, equity planning, rights and duties of shareholders, shareholder agreements, conflict management, succession, corporate finance, valuation, the stock market, wealth management and legal responsibilities. - Exchanges and structured benchmarking activities are conducted, taking into consideration the various audiences of the family businesses, in order to promote integration, share experiences and discuss the challenges specific to each family business. - During the Program, the family group is monitored and assessed to observe their development. - The process of knowledge generation is implemented through the systematic production of articles, cases, surveys, studies, etc. on the topic of family business.
