Alex Alves is full time senior faculty of Fundação Dom Cabral. Formerly, he was a full-time Associate Professor of Finance and Entrepreneurship at the Department of Economics, Management and Sociology of the University of São Paulo at the Piracicaba Campus, visiting Associate Professor at the Business Division of the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates and Assistant Professor at the Fluminense Federal University (Rio de Janeiro). Dr. Alex Alves has over fifteen years of academic and consulting experience in science, technology and innovation assessment and enterprise valuation serving national and international organizations such as Petrobras, Vale, Votorantim, CODELCO, Inter-American Development Bank, Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), and the Brazilian Innovation Agency (FINEP), among others. Before starting his academic career, he has worked as a senior economist at Shell Brasil S.A (Brazil, USA and the Netherlands), as Senior Project Analyst at Independent Project Analysis (Brazil and USA), and as senior consultant at Innova Technology Transfer and Valorization (Italy and France). He has published one book, several book chapters, research and consulting reports and scientific papers in international journals in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Finance and Science and Technology Policy and is a “pro bono” mentor of Ag-tech startups operating in the agro-food ecosystem of the Piracicaba region in the State of São Paulo. His main areas of interest are financing strategies of small and medium enterprises, agtechs, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, entrepreneurial finance, and valuation.
