Research Project - Model on International Value Creation

Purpose/Relevance of Project:   Large companies from emerging countries have pursued internationalization strategies based on the assumption that it would add value to their businesses. Even though some firms have been successful in becoming important global players, the international scenario presents challenges that very often jeopardize the opportunities offered by the global economy. By deconstructing the experience of emerging multinationals FDC (in partnership with Universidad de San Andres) has been able to build a model on international value creation that underscores what executives should take into account when expanding their operations abroad. This model is important not only to prepare Latin-American multinationals to compete in the global market, but also to promote a deeper understanding of key business drivers that are specific to emerging economies. As a result, the model aims to position FDC as a leading reference in generating strategic knowledge for the internationalization of Brazilian companies. It contributes as well to the consolidation of Brazil as a major player in the world economy.
