Understand the concepts of sustainability and their applicability to business management. |
Sustainability is the concept that involves management focused on three mutually strengthening instances: company prosperity, the environmental quality of the systems that surround it, and the social equality of the communities in which it is present.
As they encompass several fields of knowledge, the concepts of sustainability and responsible management have been incorporated into business philosophy and functions as well as into corporate strategy.
As it aims to facilitate the implementation of such new knowledge into daily organizational routine, Fundação Dom Cabral has developed the Responsible Management for Sustainability program, now running its ninth group.
Biogram
Companies are live organisms that are linked by relationship networks. Their stakeholders prevailing interests – marketing, social or environmental – determine the nature of these relations and involve all the individuals in the organization in its management systems.
This model, which is used throughout the program, is based on the Conscious Organization concept which, by means of Biosystem Thinking, seeks to perceive the organic and network reality of groups and their vital processes while paying attention to environmental changes and interferences. Through its six-year old Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Center, Fundação Dom Cabral has adopted this model as a reference and has developed research, case studies and new methodologies to enhance knowledge and apply it to organizations.
