I. THE CHALLENGE

Charles F. Knight

In this speech, Charles F. Knight, who was the CEO at Emerson for 27 years, will introduce the key factors that led to uninterrupted profits and dividends per share for 30 years straight. Mr. Knight will also challenge participants as to how they are leading their companies towards growth.

II. GROWTH ENGINE
Growth Engine, by Prof. Anjan Thakor

In this module, participants will examine several value-generating growth strategies as well as the internal organizational tensions they bring about. They will also assess ways to manage such tensions through creative leadership. Furthermore, participants will get to know the Competing Values Framework (CVF), which has been elected one of the 40 best business ideas in the world.


III. EXPLORING NEW HORIZONS
Innovation that leads to growth with profitability, by Jackson Nickerson

The tools needed to find, formulate and recognize business opportunities that lead to profitable growth will be presented. We will show that organizing and managing a company strategically can lead to profitable growth. The fundamental role that a judicious selection of human capital plays in company development will be demonstrated.

IV. GROWTH WITHIN THE BRAZILIAN CONTEXT
Organizational Culture and Innovation in the Brazilian context, by Carlos Arruda

Based on studies on competitiveness and longevity, Professor Carlos Arruda will discuss the challenges facing Brazilian companies in promoting growth within the Brazilian context.


V. LEADING TOWARDS GROWTH
Leading high-growth companies, with
Stacy Jackson

In this module Prof. Jackson will assess the role managers play in attracting, developing and retaining the human capital needed to occupy the new spaces stemming from the growth process.

There will also be a reflection on the need for managers to focus on new opportunities and act as an entrepreneur, although not by not paying attention to performance and to the running of the business.
