There are organizational and management competencies. Organizational competencies deal with the mix of company resources that make it unique, and therefore make up the origin of competitive advantage. Management competencies must support organizational ones and are linked to the individuals who work for the company. Management competencies, therefore, must be aligned to company strategy and to its management model.
The customization process
A request can be made for mapping or developing competencies. Mapping means identifying, describing and classifying individual and corporate competencies. Developing means identifying and working to close the gaps between the ideal management competencies that would support company strategy and the current stage of these competencies.
