Fundação Dom Cabral International Advisory Council Third Meeting - 2011

The 3rd International Advisory Meeting was held in São Paulo, August 14th to 16th. Members were greeted with a dinner on the Grand Hyatt São Paulo the night of the 14th, where they received Dean Emerson and Dean Jacob’s warmest welcome.
On the 15th, 45 members of the Council gathered at FDC’s unit in São Paulo, to discuss both economy on the BRIC countries and FDC’s internationalization strategy. Representing the BRIC countries, FDC invited Luciano Coutinho (Brazil), president of the Brazilian Development Bank, Ruben Vardanian (Russia), Founder & CEO of the Troika Dialog Group, Qui Xaoqui (China), China Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Narayana Murthy (India), Chairman of Infosys Technologies, Mr. Reuben Abraham (India), professor at the Indian School of Business, and Mr. B.S. Prakash, India Ambassador to Brazil. To close the conference in the afternoon, council members Roberto Rodrigues, Coordinator at GV Agro, and Roberto Teixeira da Costa, Board Member of Sul América, gave presentations on the Brazilian scenario.
 After the meeting, members and special guests were treated to a special diner at Palácio dos Bandeirantes with the Governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin. After dinner, they had the chance to watch a performance by Meninos do Morumbí, a group of young boys and girls from the São Paulo area that performs dancing and singing number with African and Brazilian inspiration.
On the 16th, council members had a chance participate in the FDC 3RD Annual International Conference, which discussed challenges in growth in developing economies. The event was divided in three panels (Risks facing emerging economies - The Macro issues, Challenges facing emerging enterprises - The Meso issues, and Concerns in emerging societies - The micro issues) with a networking lunch between the second and the third. The panels received prominent personalities in the international economy, such as Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE Euronext), Marina Silva, former Minister of Environment of Brazil, and Mark Cutifani, CEO of Anglogold Ashanti. To close the meeting, Luiz Moreno, CEO of the Interamerican Development Bank, gave the keynote speech.
