Fundação Dom Cabral International Advisory Council First Meeting - 2009
The first edition of the International Advisory Council had the participation of 45 members. Chaired by Dean Don Jacobs, the first session, held in the morning of August 18th, brought the panel: “Brazil: The Challenge of Sustainable Development” with the participation of Senator Marina Silva; Mr. João Carlos Ferraz (from the National Economic and Social Development Bank - BNDES); and Mr. Enrique Inglesias, chairman of the Secretaría General Iberoamericana.
In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to hear and interact with Minister Henrique Meirelles, Governor of the Brazilian Central Bank, followed by a private meeting and dinner at Palacio da Liberdade, hosted by Governor Aécio Neves.
On the 19th, the International Advisory Council members and the participants of the second Five Diamond Conference had a joint session to hear the challenges facing enterprises from emerging markets which was presented by Mr. Fabio Barbosa, CFO of Vale from Brazil; Mr. Mark Cutifani, CEO of AngloGold Ashanti from South Africa; and Mr. Gustavo Grobocopatel, CEO of the Los Grobos Group, from Argentina.
The 1st International Advisory Council meeting was closed with a roundtable to evaluate and discuss FDC’s opportunities and challenges in futures scenarios. The meeting was closed with the plantation of a tree at the FDC Park.
