HARRY SCHMELZER JUNIOR
 
 

Harry Schmelzer Jr., 50, is graduated in electrical engineering and business administration in Brazil. Further management and finance courses he took at Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University, USA), at FDC / Insead in France and at IMD International in Switzerland. Joining WEG in 1980, he went through several management positions both in Brazil and abroad. On January 2008 he took over the position of President and CEO of the company.

Founded in 1961, WEG operates on the industrial e energy  segments and is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electro-electronic products, including electric motors, generators, transformers, automation products and systems.

 

Headquartered in Brazil, WEG counts on several manufacturing plants located in different states such as Santa Catarina (Jaraguá do Sul, Blumenau, Guaramirim and Joaçaba), Rio Grande do Sul (Gravataí), São Paulo (São Bernardo do Campo and Hortolândia) and Amazonas (Manaus).

 

Outside Brazil WEG has established manufacturing plants in Argentina, Mexico, Portugal and China. Additionally, commercial branches were established in the USA, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Germany, England, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Singapore, India, Russia and UAE.
