About FDC
Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC) is an autonomous, nonprofit institution created in 1976. FDC designs educational solutions for business that help executives modernize their corporate structures, improve their business environments, achieve sustainable economic growth and promote the development of society.
For more than 30 years, FDC has listened and talked to leaders from numerous organizations, and more than 25,000 executives attend its programs every year. As an international center aligned with the most current management practices, FDC is engaged in strategic alliances and agreements with world-renowned schools from Europe, Asia, the United States and Latin America.
Its Knowledge Development Centers (Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility Center, CCR Corporate Governance Center, Vale Leadership Development Center, Entrepreneurship Center, Business Management Center, International Business Center, Innovation Center, CCR Infrastructure and Logistics Center, and Business-to-Business Market Center) produce studies about companies and their management in Brazil, thus supporting the programs developed by FDC and translating its advances as a knowledge-generating institution.
For the past three years, the Financial Times has ranked FDC's executive education programs among the best in the world – FDC was 16th overall in 2008 and in 2009 was considered the 13th best business school.
FDC is the only Brazilian institution and the best-placed Latin American institution in this ranking. International quality accreditations from EQUIS and AMBA, as well as membership in foreign associations, also attest to the quality and global scope of FDC programs.
FDC differentiates itself from traditional business schools by setting up teams of faculty, outside experts and client representatives. These teams interact critically and strategically inside companies and link management theory to effective practice. FDC works with organizations' senior management and staff to design programs that build participants' learning and foster an exchange of experiences to constantly renew knowledge. The educational solutions offered by FDC bring together:
Open-Enrollment Programs
Programs designed to offer solid knowledge focused on applied concepts. The programs balance theory and practice, guaranteeing the development of executives and their companies.
Custom Programs
Tailor-made educational solutions that fit the specific needs of specific organizations.
Business Partnerships
FDC facilitates the establishment of networks of companies for collective learning. Executives from different organizations exchange experiences, discuss relevant themes and find shared solutions for common problems.
Degree Programs
Programs that develop and prepare managers for increased responsibilities at different levels and functions within their organizations.
FDC's lakeside Aloysio Faria Campus is located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil's second-most important economic region, and is about a 30-minute drive from the capital city of Belo Horizonte. It is a modern facility that encompasses the academic and administrative Alfa Center building. In 2009, FDC will inaugurate its 10.000m2 Center for the Development of Management Knowledge (CDCG) that includes a 300-seat auditorium, classrooms, a restaurant that seats 400 people and the school's research centers.
Since it was created in 1976, FDC has had an international focus. Its first international programs trained Brazilian executives in France and Italy. In 1989, the school signed its first international alliance agreement with INSEAD (France) to train senior executives in the high-level Advance Management Program (PGA). FDC has collaborated with its international partners to promote open-enrollment and partnership programs in Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, France and the United States. In the past few years, FDC has worked increasingly with Brazilian and international companies to develop custom programs that are taught in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. These programs have been held in Brazil, Angola, Argentina, Chile, France, Peru, Portugal, South Africa and the United States. New programs are being developed with FDC's partner schools for companies based in Colombia, Equador, India, Mexico, Russia and Spain.
Through its relationships with other local and international institutions, FDC accesses leading-edge management tools, participates in information sharing around the world and enhances its global vision. This strategy brings clients into direct contact with several cultures and approaches to executive education. FDC's international alliances encourage the development of joint research and programs, in addition to the exchange of professors and methodologies.
FDC is located in the State of Minas Gerais and near historical cities such as Ouro Preto, whose baroque architecture has led UNESCO to name it a World Heritage Center.
